Why "Ma...Buhay!"?

The greeting of praise: Ma...Buhay!-Ma...(Mama Mary), Buhay (Jesus the Life)-To Jesus, our Life, through Mary, our Mother.

Ma...Buhay!!!
His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI announced his resignation to his position as the leader of the Roman Catholic Church and as the head of Vatican City. Pope Benedict XVI was the second Pope to resign after Pope Gregory XII in 1415. In his letter to the CBCP, the 85-year old Pope said that his oldness is a factor so that he cannot do his job well, "For this reason, and well aware of the seriousness of this act, with full freedom I declare that I renounce the ministry of Bishop of Rome, Successor of Saint Peter",the Pope said.
His true name is Joseph Ratzinger. He was before a German Cardinal. He was elected by the College of Cardinals to be the 265th Pope of the Catholic Church after Blessed Pope John Paul II died in 2005."Strength of mind and body are necessary, strength which in the last few months has deteriorated in me to the extent that I have had to recognize my incapacity to adequately fulfill the ministry entrusted to me", the Pope added. This had shocked the whole world especially the big counting numbers of Catholics countries like Brazil, Mexico and Philippines. Who will be the next successor of Saint Peter?

Annually, the Ministry of Altar Server holds a General Parents Meeting and as I promised to do my duty as the Junior Altar Server's Service Committee Chairman (the one who gives the schedule of each altar server, what time and what day.), I gave a lecture to the parents that attended the said meeting. My topic was all about the Policies of the Ministry. I did my presentation with the help of the powerpoint. I was so scared to have a talk to the parents but I did do my best. :)

Ma...Buhay!!!
Last 2012 Lenten Season, Good Friday, I attended many ceremonies that the Catholic Church do every Lent. I attended and served at the Holy Mass and complete my duties in the "Ceriales" ( ceriales is the Processional Cross together with the Processional Candles that light and presides whenever there is Procession.) I was together with my brothers, but we were not so happy that day because it is the day of the Lord's Death, but inspite and despite of it, we found God that brought us the Joy that made our day happy and complete. :)

Ma...Buhay!!!
Last December 24, Evening Mass of the Solemnity of the Lord's Birth, a mass was held at our parish, the National Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe. I was so happy because I am one of the candle bearers that will light up the path of the Baby Jesus to his manger, it was a part of the mass where the Baby entranced while everybody is singing the "Gloria!". I was together with my co-officers, Leonard, Anthony and Antonio Lean, delivering the Baby with the assigned family.

Ma...Buhay!!!
Last December 31, Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God, a mass was held in our parish. It also served as the 2013 new year welcome. I together with my other brothers in service welcomed 2013 rejoicing and praising Mary, asking her to guide us throughout the year in our Great Service to God.

Ma...Buhay!!!
Way back in time, I think it was Pentecost Sunday, the birthday of the Church. We altar servers were also officiated to wear our cassock (the vestment use by an altar server, usually white and long.). The rite was called the " Investiture Rite". I was so happy together with my other brothers in service to God cause finally, we are officiated. :)

Ma...Buhay!
This last December 12, I was fortunately picked to served the mass presided by His Eminence Luis Antonio Tagle D.D, the new ordained Cardinal of the Philippines and also the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Manila. The mass he presided is the Grand Fiesta Mass for the Feast Day of Guadalupe Nuevo's Patroness, Our Lady of Guadalupe. In his homily, he included the controversial Reproductive Health bill. The bishop asked the grace of Our Lady because as we all know, Mama Mary under the title of "Guadalupe" is a pro-life patroness. I am so very fulfilled because of  the chance given to me. I was so lucky to meet Cardinal Tagle in personal and even had a talk to him at the shrine's sacristy after the mass. I can see in his face the Holiness. In the way he talked to me, he is so smart discussing his own opinion about the RH Bill. I'm now one of the most lucky altar server in our parish!!!
